Kentucky School Choice Child Custody Cases
In both an initial Kentucky Child Custody or Modification of Child Custody case, a choice of schools is often a factor. When there is a choice between two schools, I usually present as evidence the scores maintained by the Kentucky Department of Education. The documents are admissible as government records. The give a pretty good idea of how schools academically compare. My experience is that Judges really pay attention to that information.
The Department of Education link is https://applications.education.ky.gov/src. It is a very useful tool in getting basic information about schools as well as gathering evidence for your Kentucky Child Custody case.
It helps to know something about the schools from which the Court must choose. Get information from administrators and educators at each of the schools. Pick up as much published information as they will make available to you. Be able to talk to the Judge about the pros and cons of each proposed school.
Finally, be able to tell the Judge how each choice might affect your child. What do you expect each school to do and how will your child’s life look once he or she attends the school you propose.
